You Can get music online! It is legal, It’s in mp3 format and its great!
Yeah, yeah, I’m sure plenty people know this, but more than plenty people think the only good music is stuff that actually has a big label behind them or, they just haven’t thought about it.
Anyway, on with the important stuff…
I’ve known Trash80 and his music for about a year’n’a-half; via an online forum and Soulseek, a file sharing application. His music continually impresses me and I am surprised someone hasn’t offered him a record deal
His music is free for download on his website http://www.trash80.net. He has also just released a online promo CD which you can download here: http://www.trash80.net/promo/
These 3 new tracks have gone in a more ‘poppy’ ‘elektro’ fashion than his past work which was a more geeky experimental style(reminds me of plaid sometimes). Saying pop and elektro isn’t a put down either; it’s done very well.
The other artist I am going to mention is someone else from em411.com, textadventure. His stuff reminds me of a more child like plaid with hints of Boards of Canada and even hits the guitar for a bit of mogwai like rock combined with the above sounds.
He has a internet MP3 EP available here. Also, be sure to check out a various artist compilation that textadventure also appears on at the same internet label site, jhab.
Now don’t take my comparisons with other artists as meaning these 2 guys are merely derivatives of them, these guys certainly hold themselves on their own with their own unique sound. I am just saying this is what I am reminded of when I hear them. Your mileage will vary
Two artists, doing quality stuff, no big labels or any at all and releasing it for us to hear. On ya cobbers!
Phew, that was a link-fest

The only reason there’s even a problem with the RIAA and mp3’s is because it threatens their existance based on a mafia of labels and distributors. The legal status of an mp3, the artist who made it, etc, really isn’t a concern of the RIAA —the distribution system under attack is.
hey atariboy! Thanks for the wee mention! Much appreciated. Im just away to download yr new track now.
Cheers,
David textadventure.
