Had a semi jam with a couple of friends on sunday. “Semi” because it didn’t go too well. Keith had problems with his ti PowerBook.
He installed the OS X update to 10.2.4 and when he rebooted it would no longer log in… anyway, thats not what this post is about…
I wanted to talk about making music live in a group. I have only made music on my own on my computers so the jump from that to making music live is vast.
Taking half an hour to come up with a decent synth line for a song is fine in your own studio but you cant do that on stage can you?
Basically, i have to learn to improvise and work in and play off what other band members are playing. I need to learn some more theory so i actually know what key to play in and improve my keyboard playing skills.
I am going backwards in how one should actually come into music in a way but I think this is quite typical for a lot of new musicians at the moment. Come from a background of long time computer use, most likely a graphic designer, hence a creative mind, love music then you want to make music. Your computer is the perfect option. This is what happened to me anyway
