Announced just 15 mins ago, Shane Warne has been found guilty and given a 12 month suspension from any competitive cricket playing due to his use of a diarrhetic. My brother made a blog post about this case last week.
12 months is less than most sports would give for this kind of ruling. Cricket has some clauses which allow for less harsh and perhaps more human punishment. Yeah yeah, if we show a weakness in our laws, people take advantage of it but in a matter like this, I this it was a fair result.
That said, it’s still the harshest ruling given to an international cricket player over banned(from cricket) drug use.
Lets hope he keeps fit and makes a come back after this ‘break’
**update: Shane just announced he will be appealing and claims he “is a victim of the anti-doping hysteria”
He seems surprised he received such a harsh punishment. He also stated he did not know the drug as a diarrhetic, he knew it as a fluid tablet.
accidents happen huh? :/
